The world of Westeros is returning to HBO this time with a touch of warmth, wit, and wonder. During its New York Comic Con panel, HBO unveiled the first official teaser for its upcoming original half-hour drama series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Set a century before the fiery chaos of Game of Thrones, this prequel promises a more intimate, character-driven story about courage, friendship, and the origins of legend. The six-episode season premieres Sunday, January 18 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with new episodes streaming weekly on HBO Max.
Based on George R. R. Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the series follows an unlikely pair of heroes Ser Duncan the Tall, a humble and idealistic knight, and his quick-witted young squire, Egg, who harbors a secret that could change the fate of Westeros. Their journey takes place in an era when the Targaryens still rule from the Iron Throne and the last dragon’s memory still lingers in song and story. It’s a time of fragile peace and quiet power struggles—perfect conditions for destiny to strike.
At its heart, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms trades political intrigue for personal stakes.
