Black Girl Nerds had the opportunity to get a 1:1 interview with Corey to talk about his historic and monumental role as one of the most iconic characters in the Disney franchise on the Disney Destiny Cruise Line<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing the opportunity as a \u201cdream come true,\u201d Bradford embraces the chance to breathe new life into the beloved Disney hero, leading a show that blends powerful live vocals, aerial stunts, and innovative choreography to transform the animated classic into a spectacular experience at sea aboard the Disney Destiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the lead in Disney Cruise Line\u2019s newest Broadway-inspired production, Bradford is redefining what it means to be a hero at sea, bringing a fresh sense of soul and authenticity to the iconic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about his favorite musical artist, Bradford doesn\u2019t hesitate. \u201cBeyonc\u00e9,\u201d he says with a grin. \u201cDo we even have to say why? Her artistry alone \u2014 but also her strategy, her work ethic \u2014 it\u2019s really admirable. I\u2019d love to have even an ounce of what she has.\u201d That blend of humility and ambition shines through in his portrayal of Hercules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stepping into such a legendary Disney role could easily feel daunting, but Bradford approaches it with gratitude rather than pressure. \u201cIt was such an honor,\u201d he says. \u201cOnce it was official, I just wanted to do it justice. I know how many people hold this story near and dear \u2014 and I\u2019m one of them. I wanted to tell my story through Hercules. I\u2019m not out here fighting Titans or Hydras,\u201d he laughs, \u201cbut we all face our own challenges. I wanted to use what I\u2019ve been through \u2014 the good and the bad \u2014 to bring authenticity to the story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Bradford, the role demands both vocal precision and physical stamina. \u201cIt\u2019s very physical,\u201d he says. \u201cYou\u2019re running around, singing, dancing, and then there\u2019s the choreography and fight sequences with these incredible, larger-than-life puppets. I remind myself before every show to keep it honest and stay present. No performance is ever exactly the same that\u2019s what keeps it exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to favorite moments and song selections from the Disney musical, Bradford lights up. \u201cZero to Hero<\/em> hands down,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s always been my favorite song, even before this show. It\u2019s a big, high-energy number that makes you want to stand up and dance. And the gospel influence? That\u2019s home for me. I grew up in the church, so that music moves me every time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performing for guests aboard the Disney Destiny has been deeply rewarding. \u201cSeeing the faces in the audience the smiles, even the tears \u2014 it reminds me that we\u2019re all connecting through the same emotions. After the show, hearing people say how much it meant to them just confirms that what we\u2019re doing matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bradford also draws creative energy from his castmates, especially Matthew Patrick Quinn, who plays Hades. \u201cHe\u2019s such a seasoned professional,\u201d Bradford says. \u201cWatching how he approaches the work is inspiring. I try to take bits and pieces from everyone I work with and bring those lessons into my own craft.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Disney Destiny<\/a> continues its voyages, Bradford\u2019s Hercules reminds audiences and perhaps himself that true heroism comes from perseverance, heart, and the courage to keep going the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
